The Devil's Doorway, More Glass news, and surprise...Stephen King!
Horror News Roundup
Glass, the much awaited end to Shyamalan's trilogy won't be hitting theaters until January 18th but EW has just released first look shots. There's also going to be something happening at Comic Con. Perhaps a teaser?
The new photos show all our main characters, and new comer to the trilogy Sarah Paulson. I'm so fucking stoked looking at these photos! All of it looks incredible and I can't wait to find out how these three interact and how this incredible story will end!
We're now officially just under a month away from my new favorite shark movie, The Meg and the studio just dropped their best poster yet.
Want some Stephen King news? Cause I obviously can't go more than a day without talking about him? Hulu's new series Castle Rock just released the first full trailer and it looks absolutely incredible. This will be a horror anthology series set in the world of Stephen King. It's from J.J. Abrams and King himself. There's lots of King veterans in the cast like Bill Skarsgård and Sissy Spacek. While the trailer doesn't give too much away story wise, it is absolutely filled with King imagery and Easter eggs. In the short trailer we already see references to Cujo and we see local hot spots Shawshank State Prison and Juniper Hill Asylum.
Castle Rock will premier exclusively on Hulu on July 25th. Unfortunately, us Canadians won't be able to watch so I can only cross my fingers and hope it goes to iTunes at some point.

Lastly, it's Friday the 13th!!! I've got my Crystal Lake Camp Counselor tank top on and I'm ready to ignore a bunch of kids and let them drown!
A movie I've been looking forward to for a while drops today on VOD. It's called The Devil's Doorway and comes from filmmaker Aislinn Clarke, who by the way is the first woman to direct a horror film in Northern Ireland. GET IT AISLINN! The film follows two priests documenting the goings-on at an Irish convent in the 1960's. There's been reports that a statue of the Virgin Mary is bleeding. The priests are tasked with finding out if this is a miracle, or a hoax. But obviously they get more than they bargained for because this is a horror movie and we're not idiots.
It is found footage, and before you start yelling at me about it, note that it's done in a really original way. They shot a lot of it on 16mm and it plays beautiful in the 60's setting. Think Annabelle but with more cigarette burns.
I'm really stoked for this IFC film and the trailer is filled with terrifying moments. Even if that's all there is, I'm still eager to check it out. And what a great Friday the 13th choice!
Check out The Devil's Doorway on all VOD platforms today.
AND THAT'S IT! Not much horror news this week after the burst of trailers and posters from the last few weeks. But next week is comic con and I'm sure we'll get lots of goodies.
