Weekly Favorites - Pet Sematary, Jeffrey Riddick is a bad ass, and more!
It’s been a week you guys...possibly one of the slowest weeks ever. I feel like I’ve lived a whole lifetime this week. It’s been rough. BUT we’re here to talk about my favorite things that happened this week so let’s dive right in:
I started following @horrornostalgia on Instagram and it’s a phenomenal account. They post nothing but rare behind the scenes pics from horror movies. It’s so cool to go through all of them, a lot of them I’ve never seen before. And now I get a new photo every day on my timeline. Highly recommend following this awesome account!
This week Gillette released a new commercial that spoke to men about their toxic masculinity and rebranding themselves to be a more inclusive brand. It was quite moving. But it also made me laugh that ya’ll need a commercial to remind yourselves not to be dicks to women. Sadly, a lot of men took major offence to this commercial and went absolutely nuts online. Men were boycotting Gillette and throwing their razors in the toilet. EYE ROLLLLLLLL.
Piers Morgan, worldwide idiot, got involved tweeting out his anger over the commercial. Jeffrey Reddick, creator of the Final Destination franchise, was very outspoken about his approval of the commercial. And then the two collided on twitter. Piers attacked Jeffrey trying to devalue him by saying that he had no ground to stand on. “Do ‘real men’ make millions of dollars from movies glorifying the slashing, stabbing, shooting, incineration, strangulation & dismemberment of women?”. Horror fans collectively groaned and rolled their eyes.
But Jeffrey came back in the best way possible – by just stating the facts. “Nice try,” is what killed me.
I love you Jeffrey Reddick.
This week was also the release of Halloween on DVD. I actually wandered into Best Buy on Monday thinking it was Tuesday and got super confused as to why Halloween wasn’t there. I walked out with The First Purge and The Nun instead. Finally, on actual Tuesday, I picked up the DVD. I hadn’t see Halloween in theaters so I was incredibly excited. My full review also went up today, check it out HERE. But how great is it that in 2019 I got to walk into a store and purchase a new Halloween flick?! Amazing.
Lastly, Pet Sematary released a new TV spot trailer. Usually I avoid TV spots…unless of course, I actually see them on TV. BUT I heard that you saw Zelda in this trailer so I had to watch it. And holy fuck you guys, I’m so onboard. Jud says the iconic line, SOMETIMES DEAD IS BETTER!!! And I flailed and screamed with joy.
We do get a glimpse of Zelda, and she looks terrifying. We see more of the creepy masks, we see a lot of the woods and dramatic gazes. I’M SO EXCITED!
Check out the TV spot below:
Alright, that’s it for me this week. Hope ya’ll had a great week – let me know what your favorite thing was in the comments below!
