Top 5 Video Games We're Most Excited for in 2019
In the current era of movie franchises where the majority, including myself, are excited for the next MCU movie or still waiting for the DC comic movie that doesn’t involve behind the scene drama, we tend to forget a lot about the fantastic video game franchises that we grew up with. We are just about to pass the four-week mark (why is this month taking so long) in 2019. In 2018 there wasn’t a tone of buzz about upcoming video games…
So, guess what?
A list of the five horror video game franchises that is looking to make their long-awaited comeback into our lives in 2019!
I understand that video games are not a cheap investment and personally it’s been tough for myself to get excited for the horror genre with franchises like Silent Hill and Fatal Frame fading away into the darkness. I don’t feel it’s unpopular to say that 2018 was not the greatest for horror games, but 2019 certainly has my blood flowing!
Resident Evil 2
Release Date: January 25, 2019
There is no way I can write a list like this and not have this game mentioned. I am a sucker for game franchises and this is no different. There is a total of 20+ years separating the original game on PlayStation and this remake. Do not miss out on the chance to relive the outbreak in Raccoon City when the game comes out TODAY! What are you doing? Go play Resident Evil 2!
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Release Date: TBD 2019
Anytime I talk about video games, I will do whatever I can to talk about the greatness of the Mario franchise. In 2019, we get more from the wonderful world of Nintendo when we get to join Luigi in the 3rd instalment of the spooky franchise for the Nintendo Switch. We’ll get to go ghost hunting with Luigi’s ever-reliable Poltergust 5000. Even though there isn’t a release date for 2019, Nintendo will be re-releasing a remake of the original Luigi’s Mansion in October 2019 for the Nintendo 3DS.
World War Z
Release Date: TBD 2019
Wait, another zombie video game in 2019? Count me in! The game will be based on the 2013 movie, which starred Brad Pitt and will have you explore the story of the zombie apocalypse but from an entirely different angle! Despite having mixed feelings about the movie, the game has a real Left 4 Dead feel for it and that really has my juices flowing for this one!
Devil May Cry 5
Release Date: March 2019
Don’t call it a comeback! The team at Capcom is bringing back Nero and Dante, with a new character named V in this super fun, all out demon adventure game. The follow up to 2008’s Devil May Cry 4, is easily the game that I am most excited for in 2019 and if this trailer doesn’t get you amped, I’m not sure what will!
DOOM Eternal
Release Date: TBD 2019
The anticipation for the 5th installment is not getting as much buzz as it truly deserves, especially in a crowded 2019 line up. However, it is now a quarter century since we have followed Romero and co. This follow up promises to stick to its guns and do what it does best. But with even better graphics and design that the DOOM franchise consistently brings to the table.
