AHS 1984 - Episode Six - Episode 100
We start out a year later, so this half should be called AHS 1985, in a motel, and Ramirez and Richter have been chillin’ and killin’ for the last year since we saw them last.
Well Ramirez has been killing at least. He’s killed 11 people, and nearly kills a woman who knocks on their door to have them turn down the Billy Idol music, but Richter gets him to let her go. He admonishes Ramirez for the continued murder spree, but Ramirez tells him this is why they were brought back, if he doesn’t kill there will be literal hell to pay.
We get a montage of the past year of killing set to Black Sabbath’s Paranoid, before we go to Mexico, where Richard Ramirez is caught by locals and beaten while Richter drives away.
It’s now four years after that..so...AHS 1989…I guess. A photographer takes wildlife pictures at the old, now abandoned, camp. Little does he know he’s being watched. He comes across Montana, who’s relaxing out in the sun. She flirts with him a bit, before stabbing him to the tune of Home Sweet Home by Motley Crüe.
The ghosts of the 1970’s camp counselors admonish her murderous ways, but Xavier has decided to join her in her murder sprees, since he’s already dead anyway, clearly nothing matters. Death has made him into a nihilist.
We see a clip from Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous detailing how Margaret became a millionaire by turning serial killer’s former homes into billion dollar tourist attractions, and that Trevor not only survived the attack at the camp, but that he’s now her husband as well.
All is not as pleasant as reality TV will tell you though, as Trevor does cocaine while watching the episode, then argues with Margaret. We flash back to 1985 where we see him being visited by Margaret, whom he blackmails into giving him money but she then blackmails him into marrying her, since spouses can’t be made to testify against their spouses.
He tells her in the present that he’s done with this life and to kill him for good the next time, she tells him he’s stuck with her, and then they start to make out before being interrupted by her assistant Courtney (Leslie Jordan-Will and Grace) telling her that Brooke Thompson will be executed for the murders of 1984.
We see Brooke get introduced to her new home at San Quentin. She sees Ramirez in his cell, who greets her with a very Joker like monologue, some cool stuff. She’s since owned up to being more unhinged due to the four years in prison.
Back at the camp, Ray is not happy with Montana and Xavier’s killing spree, turns out he has been doing the cleanup for their kills and he’s tired of it. He sees the headline that Brooke is to be executed. He’s upset that she didn’t do anything, to which Montana says, “well she killed me at least.“
Meanwhile, in prison, Ramirez is communicating with Brooke via meditation/astral projection, in a scene that reminded me a lot of Kylo Ren talking with Rey using the Force in The Last Jedi. He tells her about how painful it will be to die by lethal injection, he’d prefer the electric chair he says. He says that his master Satan can protect her, if she joins the Dark Side..I mean join Satan, to which she tells him to F off.
Margaret, meanwhile is planning out her future jobs of turning Ed Gein’s farm into a tourist attraction, but it turns out that the deal has fallen through. She says this is a downward turn but murder always sells. She sees the headline about Brooke, and plans to turn Camp Redwood into a tourist trap.
In Alaska, Richter has settled into a quiet life with a wife and son, and has a job at a Blockbuster equivalent video store. Life is good for him, but he sees the news conference about Margaret reopening the camp, and he’s okay with this. He returns home from work later to find his wife murdered, and a note attached to his son written in blood that Satan will have his revenge. He leaves his son with his wife’s sister and goes off to get his revenge once and for all.
Also wanting in on the revenge train are Montana and Chet. Things are coming together for a pretty violent confrontation between the different groups of people Margaret murdered in the past.
Ramirez talks to a female friend, who shows him the headline that Billy Idol will be performing at the Camp Redwood festival. He’s excited but the other bands are just trivial, soon to be forgotten much like himself if he doesn’t do something soon. He doesn’t want to fade away, and wants to do something that people will never forget.
Brooke is taken off to be executed. The dad from Even Stevens is playing the priest. Ramirez offers her one more shot to shout at the devil with him but she flips him off. He meditates and talks to Satan, asking him to get one more shot at immortality by killing everyone at the festival. The flyer burns, so apparently he agrees. Brooke uses her last words to tell Margaret she will pay for what she’s done, before she’s put to death via lethal injection.
Ramirez calls forth Satan, who sends out a black smoke to possess a guard, much like on Supernatural, who lets him out of prison. Brooke is now dead. Or maybe not, as her “executioner” turns out to be Donna, who pulled an Assassins Creed and merely put her to sleep to simulate death but has brought her back to free her.
A lot of pop culture homages this week, all setting up towards a bloody ol’ time at Camp Redwood in the Halloween episode next week. I can’t wait!
