Everything I Watched in January!
I thought I’d introduce a new segment on here where I lay out what I watched each month. A lot of these I don’t do reviews for because honestly, I don’t have the time. And a lot of them are just me re-watching my favorites.
Check out what I watched in January!
I started off the month watching The Lodgers. You can check out my full review HERE. It was interesting but genuinely confusing. 3/5
Unfriended was a re-watch, I’ve seen this movie so many times but I really enjoy it. Still a 5/5.
Carrie was also a re-watch. I really didn’t like this movie when it first came out but I’ve seen it about three times since then and it’s really growing on me. So, now it’s moved up to a 4/5.
Phantasm. I watched the Shudder version with Joe Bob Briggs. I’ve actually never seen this movie before and I quite enjoyed it. I’d like to watch it again though and really pay attention as I was working when I watched it. 4/5.
The Changeling. I fucking love this movie. I watched it for the first time when I was 12 and it actually scared the living daylights out of me. It holds up so incredibly well and all the scares are still really effective. The score is perfect, the story is perfect, the acting is perfect. GO WATCH THIS. 5/5
Candyman. I watched the Scream Factory release and it was beautiful. I haven’t dived into the special features yet but I’m looking forward to doing so. 5/5
IT. I watch this movie so much you guys. Literally any time it’s on cable I’m watching it. I can’t wait for Chapter Two this year! 5/5
Primal Screen was a documentary. It was super short and I didn’t really see the point of it. It’s about a fear of ventriloquist dummies. It’s on Shudder. Do with it what you will. 3/5
Mandy. I FINALLY WATCHED MANDY YOU GUYS! I was really worried I wasn’t going to like this because everyone’s feedback made it sound like the type of movie I didn’t like. But I loved it! I really want to watch it again already. 4/5
The 50 Best Horror Movies You’ve Never Seen. This was another documentary from Shock Till You Drop Productions. It just brings together all our fav critics and actors to chat about 50 awesome horror movies. You can find it on youtube. 5/5
31. Ya’ll know I’m a fan of Rob Zombie so don’t come at me with your hate. I re-watched 31 for like the 5th time. I still love it. Sometimes I just like to check. 5/5
Mirror/Mirror. A total random click on Shudder and omg I LOVED THIS. I love the lead character. She’s like this bad ass goth 80’s teen. She moves into a new house with a haunted mirror and uses it as a weapon against her bullies. 4.5/5
Cold Skin. Another random click on Shudder. It was super creepy and beautiful. The effects were pretty shit though so that kind of took me out of it. But overall, I enjoyed the whimsical horror of it and will probably watch it again. 4/5
Urban Legend. This was my watch of the Scream Factory edition. You can check out my full review HERE. 5/5
The Reaping. A random Netflix click. It did not pay off. I liked the cast though! 3/5
Revenge. PERFECT FILM. Check out my review HERE. 5/5
Why Horror? A documentary about why we enjoy horror and what does it do to our brains. It was alright. I liked the people who were adding their voices in. But ultimately it was just this one dude talking about himself and his mom joining in. 3.5/5
Until the Light Takes Us. I’ve seen this documentary a lot but I wanted to show it to Mitch because Lords of Chaos is coming soon. It’s about the band Mayhem and the rise and fall of Black Metal in Norway. Lots of great footage and interviews. Always a solid 5/5.
78/52 is a documentary about the shower scene in Psycho. This was absolutely fascinating and I learned so many new things about Psycho when I thought I basically knew everything at this point. Also, lots of great voices joining in. 5/5
The Woman in Black. This is the 1989 TV version. A full review of this is coming soon! 5/5
Where is it. This is a short by Midnight Video. Expect a full interview and discussion about their shorts coming this month. 5/5
Your Date is Here. 5/5
Mikus. 5/5 Both shorts from Midnight Video.
Nightmare Factory. A great documentary about Greg Nicotero, Robert Kurtzman, Howard Berger, and Tom Savini. Talking about special effects and the making of creatures. Absolutely fascinating. 5/5
Demon House. This is Zak Bagan’s doc about the demon house he purchased in Ohio. I know he gets a lot of shit and people hate on him and his show Ghost Adventures. BUT I LOVE HIM OKAY BRO?! 5/5
My favorite re-watch of the month was Demon House because BRO I LOVE IT. And my favorite new watch was probably Cold Skin, Mandy and Nightmare Factory.
