What I Watched in February....
February went by so fast you guys. I’m freaking out. How is it already March?! I’m turning 30 NEXT MONTH?! I hope it turns into a Happy Death Day situation because that would make it way more exciting.
Anyyywayyy what I’m trying to say is – February went by too fast and I didn’t watch that many movies. BUT….let’s talk about the ones I did:
February 5th – Friend Request – 3/5
Laura is a popular college student who graciously accepts an online friend request from Marina, a young social outcast. To everyone's shock, Marina takes her own life after Laura decides to unfriend her. Soon, a disturbing and mysterious video appears on Laura's profile and her contacts slowly dwindle. When her friends suddenly begin to die one by one, the frightened young woman must figure out a way to stop the carnage before it's too late.
This was okay? I was kind of hoping it would be more like Unfriended but I found it quite slow and hard to follow.
February 6th – Wildling – 4/5
After a childhood in captivity under the care of a man who taught her to fear the outside world, a young woman sees her new freedom shattered by a series of unsettling events.
This was SUPER cool. I loved the cast, I loved the premise, and I loved the violence. Completely surprised me!
February 6th – Look Away – 3.5/5
Maria is an alienated high school student whose life gets turned upside down when she switches places with her sinister mirror image.
This was a fun concept and I was mostly on board. I think where it lost me was the acting. There was a lot of cringe acting going on. BUT – again, cool concept, some good kills, and I liked the message it was putting out.
February 9th – Horror Noire – 5/5
Based on Robin R. Means Coleman’s landmark book Horror Noire: Blacks in American Horror Films from the 1890s to the Present, this new documentary traces the under-represented history of African American artists in Hollywood through their connection to the horror genre.
This made me so happy. Check out my full review HERE
February 13th – Liz Drives – 3/5
For estranged sisters Liz and Ellie being a family has never been easy – but there are some horrors you create yourself…
I loved the concept, loved the acting, but kind of found it super confusing. Worth a watch though!
February 13th – Grammy – 5/5
When a little girl wakes up from an overnight at her grandma's house, she discovers there may be more to Grammy than meets the eye.
AHHH I LOVED THIS! Go watch this right now! It’s only like 3 mins long but it’s so much fun.
February 16th – Jigsaw – 4/5
After a series of murders bearing all the markings of the Jigsaw killer, law enforcement officials find themselves chasing the ghost of a man who has been dead for over a decade, and they become embroiled in a new game that's only just begun. Is John Kramer back from the dead to remind the world to be grateful for the gift of life? Or is this a trap set by a killer with designs of his own?

February 18th – The Faculty – 5/5
To the students at Harrington High, the principal and her posse of teachers have always been a little odd, but lately they've been behaving positively alien. Controlled by otherworldly parasites, the faculty try to infect students one by one. Cheerleader Delilah (Jordana Brewster), football player Stan (Shawn Hatosy), drug dealer Zeke (Josh Hartnett) and new girl Marybeth (Laura Harris) team up with some of their other classmates to fight back against the invaders.
Re-watch for me! Still holds up! Still so much fun. Aliens FOREVER. Also, never realized the obvious parallels between this flick and The Thing.
February 18th – [REC] – 5/5
Late-night TV host Angela and her cinematographer are following the fire service on a call to an apartment building, but the Spanish police seal off the building after an old woman is infected by a virus which gives her inhuman strength.
Another re-watch for me. Goddamn this movie is SO effective. Still scares me every time at the end.
February 20th – The Strangers: Prey at Night – 5/5
Mike and his wife Cindy take their son and daughter on a road trip that becomes their worst nightmare. The family members soon find themselves in a desperate fight for survival when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park that's mysteriously deserted -- until three masked psychopaths show up to satisfy their thirst for blood.
Re-watch – because that pool scene is EVERYTHING and this movie is great. Don’t @ me.
February 22nd – Deep Blue Sea 2 – 4/5
A shark conservationist is hired as a consultant on a top-secret project on genetically-enhanced sharks, funded by a pharmaceutical billionaire. But soon the highly intelligent super-sharks turn on their masters and begin to pick them off one by one.
THIS WAS SO BAD IT WAS GOOD YOU GUYS. I had so much fun watching this ridiculous movie. BABY SHARKS FOREEEVVVERRRR!
February 25th – Wolfcop – 5/5
An alcoholic cop blacks out and wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings, and crime scenes seem oddly familiar when the full moon is out.
So much fun, and really great practical effects. The concept is ridiculous but everything pays off really well.
February 27th – Happy Death Day – 5/5
Re-watch because I adore this movie. Tree is everything.
And that’s that! What were your favorite movies you watched last month? Let me know in the comments below.
