Weekly Favorites - new trailers, Tarantino, Stranger Things and Jordan Peele!

March 25, 2019 by Charlotte Hollingsworth in Weekly Favorites

Oh boy, I am terrible at schedules. Missed two weekly favorites in a row. But for those of you who have been reading Horror Bound for the past 8 years, you know my biggest accomplishment is never staying on schedule. BUT….WHO CARES?!

It’s weekly favorites time and I actually had enough time this week to put one together. So let’s dive into my favorite things from this past week:

Body-At-Brighton-Rock-Trailer.jpg

The trailer dropped for a movie I’m really looking forward to, Body at Brighton Rock. Wendy is a summer employee of the state park. She takes on a rough trail assignment to prove that she’s up to it. But when she takes a wrong turn, she ends up lost in the backcountry. And if that’s not scary enough, she stumbles upon a potential crime scene. Wendy is charged with guarding the site and the dead body until help can find her.

The trailer shows a lot without showing too much. It’s clearly going to be an intense nail biting flick. And I love outdoor horror, Backcountry being one of my favorites. In the trailer it shows a man finding Wendy along with the body and acting super creepy, there’s also a bear, and lots of strange goings on. I’m intrigued to see where the story takes us.

It’s written, directed, and produced by Roxanne Benjamin and stars Karina Fontes.

More info has started to drop about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Tarantino’s latest flick. We got a few posters, and a teaser trailer. The film takes place in 1969 and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a Western star and Brad Pitt stars as his stunt double. The plot is still pretty much under wraps but we do know it revolves around Sharon Tate who is played by Margot Robbie. The cast includes Kurt Russell, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch and even more.

The trailer looks pretty fun – Pitt and DiCaprio are in fine form. There’s a lot of humor and gorgeous sets and costumes. We see a lot of moments that are clearly surrounding Manson - the farm where he and his followers lived, the Manson girls etc. Honestly, I’m really fucking excited for this!

Another great thing that happened this week is Jordan Peele. Just in general. But he’s on a press tour right now for Us and he’s making all the stops. There’s lots of great interviews out there with him chatting about his inspirations and the film itself.

But one sharp eyed fan on twitter pointed out that Peele was taking some fashion choices from some interesting places:

Peele, our current reigning King of horror, jumped in with his response:

I mean….come on….we don’t deserve him. He also tweeted out “Us is a horror movie” just in case any of those sneaky film critics decide when the film is super successful that they’ll call it a drama. NO MOTHER FUCKERS, IT’S A HORROR MOVIE.

The first day of Spring was this week which means summer isn’t so far away. And with summer comes Stranger Things season 3. This week Netflix dropped a trailer on us and had everyone losing their shit.

THE OUFITS. THE MUSIC. THE DRAMA. STEVE IS STILL THE BEST MOM. HOPPER IN A MIAMI VICE STYLE SHIRT. PRANKS. THE MALL.

I have nothing new to add honestly…I’m just really excited. But we’ve got a new trailer and some stills so check them out below!

We are blessed this year with a new Joe Hill book - a collection of 13 new and old stories. Including In The Tall Grass which will be a film soon on Netflix and You Are Released which was a Stoker Award nominee for Best New Horror. This week Hill released the cover! Cannot wait to read this!
