The Forgotten Ones: Drabbles of Myth and Legend Brings the Terror in Bite Size Bunches
The Forgotten Ones is a new anthology of drabbles brought to you by Erie River Publishing. For those unfamiliar with what a drabble is, it is a short work of fiction that is exactly 100 words in length. As you can imagine, the brevity required to write such a story can make it challenging for the author to not only get the readers connected but to also leave them satisfied at the story's conclusion. The Forgotten Ones has managed to collect 211 drabbles that each manage to do just that while also providing the kind of terror that every horror fan can appreciate.
I went into this having never read an anthology of drabbles and upon completing it, I couldn’t help but think what a blast it was to read. Every story was written with such precision and care, it was obvious that each of the 103 authors that took part in this collection is a master of their craft.
One of the aspects I enjoyed the most was the amount of different stories that this anthology offers. It truly does have something for everyone to enjoy. Whether it was the wrath of ancient gods, Cthulhu, The summoning of evils long forgotten, or a magic tree that can grant you wishes, The Forgotten Ones had all of that covered and more. It is also worth noting that while the stories were each different in their own ways I never once felt that any of them were out of place or didn’t belong in the collection. I was just as involved at the end of my reading as I was at the beginning without having any lag at all in between.
The Forgotten Ones was an absolute pleasure to read and is one I recommend checking out. It can be purchased HERE.
