Get Hungry for Bad Girl in the Box
Just whoa man. Not at all what you expect it to be. You'll need a strong stomach for this one. I do not advise reading this one while eating!
You journey with a young woman hesitantly going back to visit home. The book shows you that she is not excited and not ready to visit with her estranged mother. There is also bad blood between them. Going back to her neighborhood, she discovers the place is not what it used to be. Something feels off with the surroundings and the neighbors. Before you know it, a storm quickly forms and rains down slabs of thick and juicy meat. Unfortunately, for all who consume the mysteriously delicious fallen meat, it is not heaven on earth that they find themselves. In fact, once they feast, they are doomed.
Not expecting a grand gesture welcome home, Bria did not expect she would be walking into an episode of The Twilight Zone.
What I enjoyed about this book was the chapter changes with the characters. You get to view the changes in the people and the street through each neighbors eyes. Not only do you read what is happening, you feel the experience they are having through the strange meat.
There are lots of twists and shocking turns. More than enough to make your stomach churn.
Get ready to delve into a world of meat and despair.
Birch Street. A beautiful neighborhood on a beautiful summer day. Then raw meat falls from the sky. People are at first offended, then intrigued. Once tasting it, they can eat nothing else. It becomes an addiction that owns them body and soul, releasing pent-up frustrations, secret desires, and nameless horror. And when the meat runs out, the monsters are loose on Birch Street. Into this hell zone of starvation, rot, and worms comes a conflicted, traumatized young woman. She’s returning home after a long, painful absence. She alone broods over the secret of the meat. Through her is deliverance from starvation. But only at the most horrific price.
