Henry Coxton is a detective of the occult. By his side are Violet and Christopher. Henry was introduced to Violet under the stage name of Lady Death. She is able to command objects and people to do her bidding. Christopher roamed the alleys for rats and hid from the public due to his deformity. His face is more dog like than human and he hides under a cotton bag.
Together, the team helps the people of London with their supernatural issues. After receiving a mysterious letter requesting a visit to an empty house, all hell breaks loose. The past has come to haunt Coxton & Co. and lies are coming to light.
Violet’s father tormented her as a child demanding that she become stronger and more powerful. He had a magic mirror that has reappeared. The new owner and his minions are determined to change the world.
Henry, Violet and Christopher narrate the book. Each taking turns to reveal their past and how they plan to defeat the magic mirror. I enjoyed each character’s devotion to the team. Honestly as I was reading, I kept picturing the actors of Penny Dreadful. If you enjoyed the show, I definitely recommend.
