A Touch of Happy by Andrew Kanago
Mark Peter endures constant nightmares and has bad memories. The thing is, these memories aren’t his own. Mark has a unique psychic gift. He keeps the memories of everyone and everything he touches. Mark has witnessed great horror’s and evils and keeps them all tucked away inside. Things have gotten so bad for Mark, he has quit touching people. Mark used to work for the FBI but abandoned that calling cause the emotional price of using his psychic ability began to take its toll.
All Mark wants is a normal life—to have someone to love and touch. He is sick of being trapped between the reality of his life and the memories of others. He wants it all to just go away. But it’s not that simple and Mark knows it. He also knows he might have to use this gift again one day.
That day comes when a serial killer is on the loose and the FBI approaches Mark for his help. Girls keep going missing and the FBI is desperate for Mark to help find the killer. But does Mark really want to help? What terrible memories will he gain and how much more psychological torment can he take? Besides, now he has a love interest and he wants to focus on her.
Yes, the trope of a psychic helping the FBI has been done to death and can be boring and predictable. Not so with Andrew Kanago’s story. There are some nice twists and turns and he keeps the tension and suspense going the entire book.
And the ending?
You won’t see it coming.
This book is more of a thriller/suspense than a horror. So, if you like thrillers, I recommend this one.
