Horror Bound Readathon May 14th to 22nd

May 05, 2020 by Charlotte Hollingsworth in real life horror

Hello all my constant readers (to steal from the great),

I am an avid reader in my daily life – I read mostly fantasy and horror. I spend a lot of time on booktube and bookstagram and participating in readathons. So, I decided to do my own Horror Bound readathon. I’ve also noticed a lot of folks are struggling during this time and feeling unaccomplished. Their TBR shelves sitting unread. I’m here to help!

What is a readathon?

Usually either a 24 hour period, or a week-long event, in which you just read as much as you can. There are prompts created to help you pick which books to read and you can participate by sharing what you’re reading in hashtags or posting videos. The ultimate goal is to have a lot of fun, make some friends, and read as much as you can.

What can you read? ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING. Manga, graphic novels, novellas, short story collections, novels, poetry. There are not that many rules – just read!

Our readathon will be from May 14th until the 22nd. We’ll be hosting it on twitter and Instagram using the hashtag: #HBReadathon

If you’re interested in hosting the readathon on social media just send me an email horrorboundblog@gmail.com – what that entails is posting a lot about the readathon and encouraging reading sprints and conversations.

If you just want to participate…great!

Here are the prompts – interpret as you will:

  • Read a female author

  • Read a sequel

  • Read a graphic novel that has a female lead

  • Read a POC author

  • Read an anthology

  • Read a book under 150 pages

Obviously, we are a horror website so a lot of the stuff we’ll be reading is horror adjacent but you are not required to read horror, you can read any genre you want! You can also combine prompts – if you read a book under 150 pages, that could also be a graphic novel with a female lead.

So, there we have it!

See you all on May 14th and happy reading, ghouls!
