Red Rabbit - EPIC Horror Western!
“In town, they claimed Sadie Grace could hear her name spoken, even from a hundred miles away. It was also said that she’d lived in the same cabin outside Riddle for as long as there had been white people in Kansas. That she wouldn’t ever die, and she couldn’t be killed.”
Red Rabbit by Alex Grecian is the most epic horror western you’ll ever read. We’ve got cannibals, we’ve got haunted forests, we’ve got witches, we’ve got shootouts, we’ve got so much more in this incredible story.
The story follows a cast of characters that come together under unusual circumstances and find themselves travelling the country to collect on a bounty for a witch they may or may not have killed.
“Well, there’s the law and then there’s justice. They ain’t always the same thing.”
Here’s what I loved:
This book is so completely immersive. It’s full of detailed descriptions and beautifully written characters. I’d find myself looking up and forgetting I wasn’t actually on a stolen carriage racing across the wild west. This is quite a big cast of characters and each one is fully evolved and independent to each other. You’ll quickly fall in love with them all which can result in a rollercoaster of emotions as they make their way through the story. My personal favorites were Moses, Rabbit, Sadie, and Rose.
This is absolutely a horror story – there’s a lot of violence, some pretty epic kills, and a lot of very eerie locations and moments. One of my favorite villains in here was Rigby who is genuinely terrifying and someone I would not want to meet camping out in the wilderness. He reminded me quite a bit of Randall Flagg. A lot of this story really gave me The Stand vibes.
“Well, I’ll be damned.” “Yes,” Sadie said. “I believe you will.”
Overall, this is one epic western horror that I highly recommend. Coming in just over 450 pages, this book will keep you entertained for a long time. A massive thank you to Tor Nightfire for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Pick up a copy for yourself when Red Rabbit hits stands September 19th.
