HALLOWEEN PARTY
Happy November spooky folks! This is the month I usually go into hibernation and read all the books on my TBR and watch all of the shows on my PVR. So bare with me through this month as my posting will be even less consistent than normal. And yes, that is possible.
But yesterday was my work’s Halloween party which I organize and throw every year. I wanted to share some photos from that, my costumes, and my spoo00ookky playlist.
I went as a version of Lords of Salem - I have the symbol on my forehead and just threw on my bat dress and a bloody shawl. I also brought Chucky to work because sometimes he likes to get out of the house.
I built one of those spooky games where folks have to stick their hands into dark holes and guess what they’re touching. This was super fun to watch people freak out over and I highly recommend it for any Halloween party.
I built it by getting a large box, popping it on its side and inserting another box inside to create a shelf for the two rows. I cut six holes and then covered the box with black garbage bags, a spiderweb tablecloth and a purple shawl.
Inside of the holes I had the following:
Bat Teeth - popcorn kernels. But I got the movie theater butter ones so the kernels were all sticky and gross.
Bleeding Heart - peeled tomato. This one was the grossest one. People FREAKED out when they touched it. I freaked out when I peeled it because it was a lot harder to peel than you think.
Eyeballs - peeled grapes. I didn’t actually peel mine because I was so traumatized by how hard it was to peel the tomato.
Brains - ichiban cooked, molded into a brain, and kept in the fridge overnight. It’s disgusting.
Skin - I left a burrito wrap out on the counter so it got dry and weird feeling.
Worms - gummy worms. Pretty simple.
I threw the Halloween party in our boardroom so most of the decoration was centered around the boardroom table. I had a giant spider and spider web hanging from above. Those candles are actually bleeding candles - when they start to melt, the red wax underneath pools out making it look like blood. They were a hit! You can see the party game in the background. See below for a quick video of the layout:
We also had our annual costume contest and Shanel won! Look at how incredible her costume is. Absolutely stunning. She’s holding the prize pack I put together - lots of treats, a mug, a candle, and Halloween 2.
For the party I also put together a Spooo000ooky playlist on Apple Music. I’ve included it below in case you guys need a playlist of your own, or just some spooky recs:
On Friday I attended a Halloween party - I know, I know, I LEFT THE HOUSE. I even took two buses. It was kind of traumatic. BUT - it was a dead celebrity party and my original costume was Mary Shelley. Turns out I have no idea at all how to do hairstyles and after an hour and a half of trying to put my hair into a Victorian hairstyle - it ended up a rats nest. So, I improvised and took part of my Lords of Salem costume, put a bunch of leaves in my hair, and went with The Blair Witch.
And lastly - because apparently this post is NEVER ENDING - I got a new Jason mask!
And that’s it! It’s been a good Halloween week. Tomorrow (maybe) my final wrap up post of the 31 Horror 31 Days will be up. Stay tuned! And share with me your Halloween costumes and party photos in the comments below!
