Weekly Favorites! Raindrops on roses...whiskers on kittens...GREEN INFERNO COLLECTORS EDITION
Another week has passed - a lot of exciting things have happened. I came home from Calgary and was reunited with my dogs. I got to get all my boxing day packages that had arrived while I was gone. SO MANY SCREAM FACTORY DVDSSSS! And so many books. Like SO many books. I might need to take a vacation just to read?
Let’s dive right in to my favorite things this week:
On February 7th, Shudder is getting a new documentary called Horror Noire. And holy shit I am SO excited to watch this. Horror Noire will be digging into the history of racism through cinema. They’ll speak about The Birth of a Nation to the trope of the black actor dying first, and confronting the cinematic injustices. But the doc will also highlight the films that do it right.
“We’ve always loved horror, it’s just that horror hasn’t always loved us.” Tananarive Due says in the trailer. And boy is that not the truth. Interview subjects will include filmmakers like William Crain, Rusty Cundieff and Jordan Peele among many others. The doc was created by Ashlee Blackwell and Danielle Burrows.
I can’t wait to learn a shit tone about this side of horror and also hopefully get a tone of movie recommendations.
Check out the trailer below!
THE GREEN INFERNO IS GETTING A SCREAM FACTORY RELEASSSEEEE!!! The Green Inferno is one of my favorite flicks (come fight me bro) and I’m so ecstatic to get this release into my greedy hands. This will be a Blu-Ray Collector’s Edition and will be available April 23rd. The beautiful cover is done by Devon Whitehead. They haven’t let us know what the extras are yet but we will find that out in March. What Scream Factory knows for sure is there will be an in-depth interview with Roth and cast members.
I’m so excited for that! Roth really knows his shit and I love listening to him talk horror movies and about his process. There will also be a second disc which will be a CD soundtrack of the score by Manuel Riveiro. You can pre-order on the site now! Click here.
Thomas Harris, the creator and writer of The Silence of the Lambs series finally has a new book coming out! We got a cover reveal this week and a full synopsis. Check it out below:
Twenty-five million dollars in cartel gold lies hidden beneath a mansion on the Miami Beach waterfront. Ruthless men have tracked it for years. Leading the pack is Hans-Peter Schneider. He makes a living fleshing out the violent fantasies of other, richer men.
Cari Mora, caretaker of the house, has escaped from the violence in her native country. She stays in Miami on a wobbly Temporary Protected Status, subject to the iron whim of ICE. Cari catches the eye of Hans-Peter as he closes in on the treasure. But Cari Mora has surprising skills, and her will to survive has been tested before.
You can read a sneak peek of the new novel over at Good Reads. The book is released May 21st!!!
FINAL DESTINATION IS COMING BACK!!!!!! For those in the back…..FINAL FUCKING DESTINATION IS COMING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favorite franchises of ALL time. We got five movies all together, we saw so many types of crazy deaths, we had a surprise prequel, we had a 3D version, it was EVERYTHING.
I was literally just tweeting this week about wanting a Final Destination reboot and my freakin’ horror prayers have been answered.
This is being made at New Line, it will be a re-imagining. Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan will be penning the script. They’re the writers of four Saw movies and Piranha 3DD and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
I’M SO FUCKING EXCITEDDDD!!!!!!!!!
And that’s it for this week! So many things to freak out about. What was your favorite thing that happened in the horror universe this week? Let me know in the comments below.
