Alright you mouth breathers, listen up because I won’t be repeatin’ myself. The name’s Brody, but you can call me Chief, and I am a member of the demon slayin’ ass-kickers, the Bruce Campbells, and I gotta get somethin’ off my chest. For starters, that nimrod Ezekiel Kincaid wrote a book about Johnny Walker Ranger and his first adventure, but completely forgot to mention ya boy! How rude is that right? Anyway, Johnny wouldn’t like it if I didn’t mention the book and what I thought about it. So, here goes.
Johnny Walker Ranger – Demon Slayer was written by Ezekiel Kincaid and is the introductory tale of the ass-kicking, beer drinking, red-neck, Johnny Walker Ranger, who by chance finds out how to kill demons and figures he’s being called on by God to go out and find demons to slay. Unfortunately for our demon slaying hero, he can’t find the demons. He and his brother put together the Bruce Campbell demon slaying team and then find some…questionable…ways to find the demons they’re slaying. The unfortunate part? He may just have unleashed a real evil on the Earth and now must save the day.
I’ll be honest, this book had captured me right from the description alone. It’s got this amazing energy that just jumps out from the page. There is some serious Bruce Campbell and classic cult horror movie worship here (as you can tell from the name of the demon slaying team, The Bruce Campbells…of which I am an honorary member of). The characters here are ridiculous and larger than life, but there’s also a sense of realism in here when they begin quoting scripture and coming up with their plans, but the way Johnny Walker Ranger interprets these stories in the Bible…it usually ends with hilarious consequences.
The characters are fun, the story is bloody, and action packed which is sure to get any fan of horror or comedy hooked immediately. The book is written completely from Johnny’s perspective, so get ready for a lot of self-praise. The chapters are quick and short, and I could honestly say that I’d love to see this come to life in TV or a movie or something. It’s enjoyable and easy to digest horror-comedy fiction, and I highly recommend it…and not just cause I’m a member of the slayin’ team! Y’all better recognize!
