Tag You're Dead - Fast Paced Fun Ride
“By the end of tonight, Anton Frazer will be dead. But first, I have to convince the world that I’m his biggest fan.”
Anton Fraser is a YouTube and gaming star who rose to fame creating an addictive video game called Shadow City. But then his tower came crumbling down after someone died at one of his viral parties. Nine months later, Anton is staging a new stunt and 100 fans are chosen to play. But not everyone playing is in it for the prize, and when a massive secret is revealed, four players find themselves fighting for their lives.
The new novel from Kathryn Foxfield, Tag, You’re Dead, hits shelves December 5th.
“I’m done being made of hollow plastic, ready for my mother to fill me up with her dreams and her ambitions. This game is my way out. My future. And losing is not an option.”
Here’s what I loved:
The stunt that Anton comes up with this is this really cool game of tag across the city. Each competitor gets to wear this high tech glasses and wristbands that shows them their rivals on the map and helps them throughout the competition. It reminded me a lot of Nerve and Ready Player One, but with a YouTube filter.
The cast of characters here are all deeply damaged with their own ulterior motives and it was fun to read alongside them. Each one is a super unreliable narrator. You get to solve the mystery along with the group and Foxfield pulled this off really well, it’s not too easy to figure out.
Overall, this is a fun YA thriller that’s fast paced, exciting, and a little creepy. A big thank you to Sourcebooks for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review. Pick up your own copy on December 5th. Or better yet, pre-order a copy!
